No Help and support in windows xp
I cannot shutdown or restart Win XP. When I click the shutdown or restart, I get the egg timer icon for a second........then nothing! I have tried direct commands, utilities...still nothing. When I try to restore the system, it restarts ok, but does not actually restore. I've never managed to get restore to work

Since upgrading from Windows 2000 to XP I have problems (the egg timer) merging in Word from Access and running MS Query to get data from Access into Excel. With Excel pressing ! always updates the data but trying to edit the MS Query can be a problem. My Access databases are 2000 format.

After installing XP on a newly formatted hard disk I find that it boots to the desktop in about 40 seconds and then I have to wait another minute and a half until the start menu or taskbar are available....moving the mouse over them just gets the egg timer...
